There are two major semantic categories of modal auxiliaries: predictive and non-predictive. Predictive mwaning is concerned with the speaker's assumption or assessment of probability and, in most cases, indicates the speaker's confidence in the truth of his statement, It includes such modal auxiliaries as might, may, can, could, should, ought to, would, will, must. Non-predictive modal auxiliaries are those whose meaning sre not about the speaker's asumption.
