An investigation made by China’s Social Survey Office shows that 53.6% of the young people celebrate Western festivals just for the purpose of “finding an excuse for fun”. As for “the difference between Western and traditional Chinese festivals”, 57.1% of the males think that traditional Chinese festivals are limited to material enjoyment, such as delicious food and fine clothes, while Western festivals lay more stress on spiritual exchange. And 60.7% of the females hold that they are carefree when celebrating a Western festival, but are exhausted during a traditional Chinese festival.
