What are the commonly used euphemisms related to education? Are euphemisms frequently used in Chinese educational institutions? Why?

Euphemisms are also frequently used in education. When describing students, teachers or educators tend to use positive expressions rather than negative ones in order to avoid hurting the students’ and their parents’ feelings. Thus a slow student becomes one who is working at his/her own level or who can do better work with help. A lazy student becomes an underachiever. The hearer cannot be sure how far this underachiever is behind others. The student who cheats in class becomes one who depends on others to do his / her work. Those who lie or steal are said to have a tendency to stretch the truth or to take over other’s things without permission. These understatements can be regarded as special cases of euphemisms. In contrast, euphemisms are not used so frequently in schools and universities in China. Chinese teachers, especially primary school teachers are still telling the unpleasant “truth”. “笨”, “蠢”, “傻瓜” are still heard from time to time in classrooms, which is undesirable.
