What is the Bill of Rights? How did it come into being?

（1） The Bill of Rights is the term used for the first ten amendments to the Constitution. It guarantees freedom of religion, freedom of speech, freedom of the press, freedom of assembly and petition, freedom from unreasonable searches, right to jury trial, right to due process of law and other legal rights.
（2） When the Constitution was being drafted, some people wanted to list the people’s rights in the Constitution. But the writers of the Constitution did not include a bill of rights. Many people were disappointed. They said that the Constitution should not be adopted as it was. In order to ensure the adoption of the Constitution, the supporters of the Constitution agreed to work for a bill of rights but the Constitution had to be adopted first.
