Why we say political institutions in the provinces are similar to those at the federal level?

Political institutions in the provinces are similar to those at the federal level. In each province the monarch is represented by a lieutenant governor appointed by the Governor-General in council, usually for a five-year term. The provincial lieutenant governor exercises powers similar to those of the federal Governor-General. Each province has its own legislature, from which a premier and cabinet are selected. The provincial legislatures consist of one chamber and are elected for five-year terms.
