Acquisition is purchasing existing facilities. It is a common means of entering a new market. The assets of the acquired firm such as equipment, technology, employees, brand names and distribution networks are all therefor use. The purchaser can simpiy integrate all these into its overall strategy and does not have to start from scratch and face the difficulties in the greenfield strategy.
